This Privacy Policy explains how Film Loop (“Film Loop”, “we” or “us”) collects, uses and protects personal data when you use our educational learning platform. We are committed to being transparent about the data we hold and why we hold it.

1. Account and identity data

When you create an account, Film Loop may store your full name, email address and authentication-related account information. Authentication is handled through the platform’s secure authentication system.

Film Loop may support authentication using:

  • Email and password
  • Google
  • Sign in with Apple
  • Microsoft Entra ID in the future, subject to university approval.

Microsoft Entra ID sign-in is not currently available. It may be introduced for participating universities in the future.

2. Learning progress and activity

To provide its educational features, Film Loop may store learning-related data, including:

  • Lessons started and completed
  • Questions answered
  • Quiz and exam performance
  • XP earned and user level
  • Daily streaks
  • Progress through lessons, units, semesters and years
  • Last active date and session activity
  • Returning-user information

This information is used to provide progress tracking, personalised learning features and educational analytics.

3. Guest users

You may be able to access some Film Loop content without creating an account. For guest users, Film Loop may generate a random guest identifier and store it in your browser using technologies such as:

  • Local storage
  • Session storage
  • Cookies, where applicable

This identifier is used to preserve your guest progress. If you later create an account, your existing guest learning progress may be transferred into your registered account.

4. Analytics exclusions

Film Loop may exclude the following users or environments from internal product analytics:

  • Administrators
  • Internal test users
  • Development environments
  • Localhost or local network testing

5. How data is used

Your data is used only to:

  • Provide and operate Film Loop
  • Authenticate users
  • Save learning progress
  • Provide streaks, levels, XP and personalised learning features
  • Understand how users interact with the learning experience
  • Improve lessons and the overall learning flow
  • Monitor platform reliability and usage

Film Loop does not sell personal data.

Film Loop does not use personal data for third-party advertising.

Limited data may be processed by service providers that are required to operate the platform, such as hosting and authentication providers. These providers process data on our behalf and only as necessary to deliver the service.

6. Hosting and service providers

Film Loop is independently developed and is hosted using Base44’s cloud platform. Base44 provides underlying services such as:

  • Hosting
  • Application infrastructure
  • Database services
  • Authentication functionality

The specific data storage location and region have not been independently verified. Do not assume all data is stored within a particular country or region.

7. Data management and deletion

Registered users can manage certain account information through Account Settings. You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time.

8. University use

Film Loop may be used to support learning within educational institutions. Where a university or educational institution uses Film Loop, additional arrangements — such as a data-sharing agreement or institution-specific privacy information — may apply.

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Material changes will be reflected on this page, along with an updated “Last updated” date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
